Having attended many Board of Education meetings, watched the BofE forum, and met with the new candidates who are running, I am proud to write in support of Melissa Arcaro Burns, Caty Berman and Ruchika Arora for the Moorestown Board of Education. I believe these three candidates bring experience, passion and dedication to ensuring our schools provide the best education for our children.
Caty Berman, who many of you will know from her involvement in Moorestown Soccer, is dedicated to helping every child reach their full potential. With her experience as a special needs teacher, and with a master’s in education, she is advocating for safe, welcoming environments where teachers and staff are trained and equipped to support all students. When you hear Caty talking about our school system, it’s clear she is committed to uniting school leaders, parents and students to build on Moorestown’s proud tradition of educational excellence, and focused on longterm fiscal responsibility to ensure a strong foundation for the district’s future.
Ruchika Arora has over two decades of experience in education and her extensive work running a tutoring center and collaborating with parents, teachers and students has given her a unique understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing Moorestown’s schools. Her commitment to educator resources and innovative curriculum development, especially in STEM and technology, will ensure our students are prepared for tomorrow’s challenges. I believe Ruchika’s dedication to fostering strong partnerships between the schools, parents, and the broader community will create a more inclusive, collaborative environment for all.
Finally, Melissa Arcaro Burns, currently serving on the board, is seeking re-election. She has a deep commitment to ensuring that every Moorestown kid has the chance to thrive and develop to their fullest ability. I have known Melissa for over a decade, working with her extensively during her leadership of the Home & School network. After three years on the board, I believe Melissa’s experience and thoughtful decision-making is crucial as the district faces challenges such as teacher contract negotiations and most importantly, the upcoming referendum. Her knowledge of the issues and opportunities in these areas and her collaborative style of working will be invaluable for guiding the district through these transitions.
Together, Melissa, Caty, and Ruchika offer the leadership Moorestown needs at this pivotal time. They are ready to tackle the challenges ahead with passion, dedication, and a vision for a brighter future. In the words of Taylor Swift, “I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make” – I believe if you do that, you’ll join me in supporting their candidacies for the Board of Education.
